Ubuntu Center Project: Groundbreaking!

November 29, 2012

To the faithful disciples of Jesus Christ in the West Michigan Conference,

The Africa University Task Force of the Grand Rapids District wishes to thank you for your amazing support for the Ubuntu Center at Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe.  The groundbreaking ceremony for the Ubuntu Center took place yesterday, November 28.  We have included several pictures from the ceremony (below).  You may also read the press release here.

The Grand Rapids District and West Michigan Conference pledged $500,000 for the construction of the Ubuntu Center, which was matched by an anonymous matching donation of $500,000, for a total of $1 million.   If you would like to make a donation to the Ubuntu Center, please make out the check to “West Michigan Conference” and put Ubuntu Center in the memo area.  Please send to Grand Rapids District Office, 11 Fuller SE, PO Box 6247, Grand Rapids MI 49516-6247.

We pray for safety for the workers constructing the Ubuntu Center as well as for all those individuals and groups who will one day use this center as a place for peace-making, reconciliation, education, and hope for the continent of Africa.

Blessings,
